LEEP (LOOP ELECTROSURGICAL EXCISION PROCEDURE)
Coming October 2026.
When a colposcopy or biopsy shows abnormal cervical cells that need treatment, a LEEP is one of the most common and effective ways to address them. It is a short in-office procedure that removes the abnormal tissue so it can be evaluated and so those cells do not have the chance to progress.
Beginning in October 2026, LEEP will be available in our Boise office with Dr. Karissa Keenan, our board-certified gynecologist. Having this care in-house means that if your results call for treatment, you can stay with the same team through every step, from the first abnormal result to the follow-up that confirms things are on track.
During a LEEP, a thin wire loop is used to remove a small amount of tissue from the cervix. Most women are able to return to their normal routine soon after, and we will walk you through exactly what to expect before, during, and after the procedure, including how we care for you in the days that follow. We know a word like "procedure" can feel intimidating, so we take the time to explain it plainly and make sure your questions are answered.
If you have been told you may need a LEEP, we are here to talk it through and help you feel confident about the path ahead.
